What is the Purpose of Schools?
Schools play a huge role in shaping youth. With school being the place where children will spend five days of their week for 12 years of their life or more, schools make an impact on students' lives. I think that the purpose of schools is for students to learn how to be successful in a society that grows and changes rapidly. Schools teach students a wide variety of subjects to help them decide what they want to do in the future for their career. Through school, students can learn about their interests, learning styles, and educational skills that will help them be successful for the rest of their lives. Schools also serve a purpose in helping students create valuable social skills. At school, students will interact with other individuals who have different values, opinions, and perspectives than them. These interactions teach students to be tolerant, open-minded, and accepting of perspectives different from their own. Projects like oral reports, group discussions, and presentations help prepare students to be comfortable speaking in front of their peers and will help them in the long run to be successful in their future professional endeavors. Schools serve the purpose of supplying students with necessary skills and support to help them grow into well-functioning adults. They also serve the purpose of providing a support system of teachers and administrators who facilitate learning and guide students through some of the most important years of their life.

Hey Hannah! I loved your blog over the Purpose of Schools! I think that schools are super important for children because they are a second home for many since they are at school 5 days a week and for 12 years of their life at least. I think because school is a second home to many kids it is important for us teachers to provide a safe and judgement free zone for our students. As a teacher I really want to focus on making my students want to come to school and giving them a place to make lifelong connections with peers while learning things that will benefit them into adulthood.
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah! I completely agree! We have such a great opportunity as teachers to help students grow into who they want to be and to help them feel safe and supported while doing so.
